We're excited to share that our practice has added the KARL STORZ SILVER SCOPE® Veterinary Videoendoscope to our diagnostic toolkit — a significant upgrade that means clearer answers, faster diagnoses, and better outcomes for your horse.

What This Means for Your Horse

Sharper, Clearer Images
This new scope uses high-resolution digital camera technology and improved lighting to produce crisp, bright, detailed images of your horse's internal anatomy — with up to 8x magnification. That means we can spot subtle abnormalities that might otherwise be missed.

Better Reach for Larger Horses
With an extended working length of 140 cm, this scope allows us to thoroughly examine the stomach (including reaching the duodenum) even in large-breed horses — something that can be challenging with shorter, older equipment. This is especially valuable for diagnosing gastric ulcers, a very common issue in performance and pleasure horses alike.

What We Can Now Examine More Effectively:

  • Upper airway and respiratory tract — evaluating chronic coughing, noisy breathing, tracheal collapse, or performance issues

  • Guttural pouch endoscopy — important for certain neurological and infectious conditions

  • Gastric (stomach) endoscopy — a gold-standard tool for diagnosing gastric ulcers in adult horses and foals

  • Nasal passages — investigating nasal discharge, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty

More Precise, Less Stressful for Your Horse
The scope offers a greater range of tip deflection (up to 210°), allowing us to navigate more easily into hard-to-reach areas with less repositioning — meaning shorter procedure times and less stress for your horse. A larger working channel also allows us to take better diagnostic biopsy samples when needed.
